Welcome to Systemic Animal Health
I am veterinarian for exotic pets and wildlife with a particular interest in complementary medicine. During my attempt to unite conventional and complementary medicine, I have developed a concept that I call systemic or system-oriented veterinary medicine. It can also be applied to domestic animals.
System-oriented veterinary medicine is based on systems theory and combines western and eastern philosophy and epistemology. Thus it caters for orthodox natural sciences, medicine and surgery as well as systems biology and physiology, behaviour and communication of animal and man, dietetics, phytotherapy and "energetic medicine" from various backgrounds.
Because of its ambition to be holistic, the systemic approach may be used for any kind of husbandry or medical problem. The focus lies on the prevention of diseases and hence, this approach is particularly well suited for exotic animals in captivity. Dietetics, phytotherapy and what I call energetic methods (akupuncture, homeopathy etc.) are useful for rare pets as they have relatively little risk of dangerous secondary effects. I refer these cases to competent collegues.
Systemic also means that the character, curriculum and vision of life of the veterinarian define the possibilities and limitations of his medicine. Therefore, I invite you to visit these pages and get a first idea of who I am.
